I've been serious about drawing since I was 13, so I've got 11 years of experience doodling on desks, on the back of homework and even on normal artist paper. I learned that a purty picture tends to distract people from one's inadequacies.

I doodled on the back of homework, and the teachers were so impressed, they'd give me an A and ignore the fact that about 1/3 of my answers were wrong (with the exception of my Algebra teacher, but I had my suspicions of him being some kind of undead alien zombie who couldn't appreciate fine art). I noticed the better I got, the more people were distracted. And thus, my artistic ability blossomed.

I'm posting a very small example of what I can do; if you want to see other works of mine, just type "MW Roach" in your Google search bar. Don't worry, I don't draw anything nasty, so there's no need to fret about something like that popping up.

My tools are colored pencils and sharpies. I fully intend on adding a Jeremy Sumpter portrait in here, too.

So, without further stalling for time, I present to you, my artwork!

Horses:

A friend's horse character that I drew.

Stuff with backgrounds/Scenery:

More Spirit fanart. It's baby Spirit and his dad, Strider.

Dragons/Fantasy:

Posted Image
Old dragon art I did with shading pencils.

Posted Image
A commission I did for someone at DeviantArt.

A pegasus I drew with a sharpie.

Haven't drawn the J-man yet, but I'll do him soon. I still have some time before he comes back from his vacation.
I WILL HAVE IT DONE BY THE TIME HE RETURNS. (so admins, please don't delete this post! I worked very hard on it!)

No, I NEVER trace.
So please don't ask if I do. Everything is drawn by hand from either looking at a picture, or just while watching TV.

Enjoy.

And this one...well, I'm not really sure what it is  But it's blindingly colorful, that's for sure!

Hey, thanks Dreams! I appreciate that! :Big Grin:

You know, tracing is actually a helpful tool for beginners.

Believe it or not, when you trace, you're actually training your brain to memorize line curvature, and you're training your hand to take better direction from your brain. When you draw, your brain and your hand have to work together (and getting your hand and brain to work together is essential), so tracing is pretty helpful.

Keep doing it until you feel confident enough to draw without tracing ;) You'd be surprised to see how much you've improved!

No problem! :) Think of tracing as training wheels on a bicycle. You eventually have to take them off, and it might be a scary ride the first few times, but after a while, your confidence will build and you'll be riding (or in this case, drawing) like a pro! ;) ^_^

Okay, so I feel like a total clod for not drawing Jeremy yet. Been a bit busy since my wolfdog had her pups on April 4th. Everyone is picking up their pup this week, so it's been pretty hectic lately.

But, here are some pieces I managed to squeeze outta me over the past 8 weeks.

First, SOME DISNEY FANART!!! Who doesn't love Disney?

Posted Image

Scar from The Lion King, Sabor from Tarzan and Shere Kahn from The Jungle Book. Done with sharpies and colored pencils. This one was actually done August of last year.

Posted Image

Bambi after getting his antler shot off by a hunter while trying to rescue this cute little Bobcat kitten named Rags. For a "Bambi III" idea I had. Done with colored pencils.

Posted Image

The Disney dobermans: Roscoe and DeSoto from "Oliver and Company" and Buster from "Lady and the Tramp II". Just experimenting with the different styles from each movie. Done with sharpies and colored pencils.

Posted Image

Well, it's not Jeremy Sumpter, but it IS Peter Pan! :Big Grin: This should hold me until I finish Jeremy's pic, right? Done with colored pencils. Yet another piece done last year.

And, let's throw in a couple of horses, why not?

Posted Image

A drawing of a friend's horse character on another site. Done with colored pencils, except for the lower half of his front hooves, which I did on MS Paint because I ran out of room on the paper :P

Posted Image
And, another friend's horse character from another site. Done with colored pencils.

More will be added some time between right away and whenever I feel like it B)

Thanks, Arael!

The Peter Pan I drew is the one from the Disney cartoon, not the 2003 film with Jeremy. I still haven't drawn him yet ^^;

Great drawing! :)
